In the early twentieth century, when the fountain pen was still an object of technical innovation, Waterman led the market with simple and functional models. The Waterman 13, one of the first fountain pens of the American company, responds to a sober, austere and purely utilitarian design, intended for demanding professionals.

This model in brown ebonite - a less common shade that is particularly appreciated by collectors - retains the elegant character of the brand's first productions. The drip-loading system required filling the internal reservoir with a pipette, a common practice before the appearance of more modern mechanisms.

The 14-karat solid gold nib offers a smooth and, in many cases, flexible writing, adapting to the style of the period. The clip-less, press-fit cap maintains the formal purity of the design. The Waterman 13 in brown ebonite represents a foundational piece in the history of the fountain pen, and a historical jewel for its chromatic rarity and impeccable simplicity.
