In the early 1950s, Montblanc launched its 2XX series, an intermediate line that balanced sophistication, fine materials and refined ergonomics. Within this series, the Montblanc 242 stands out for its most coveted version: the "Grey Tiger" finish, a combination of marbled celluloid in grayish tones and translucent striations that evoke the fur of a wild feline.
This pen, produced in Hamburg during the golden years of celluloid, represents the perfect harmony between classic design and vivid materials. The deep black cap with gold-plated ring and flat clip is crowned with the signature flat white star. Its two-tone 14-karat gold nib, engraved with the number 242, provides a smooth and fluid writing, highly valued by collectors.
The integrated plunger loading system allows a functional and efficient experience, without sacrificing aesthetics. The Montblanc 242 "Grey Tiger" is today one of the most sought-after variants for its chromatic rarity and for being a brilliant testimony of the transition between the artisanal tradition of celluloid and the modernity of the post-war European fountain pen.
