BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Central European Jugendstil clock, 19th century.
Polychrome stucco.
Pons machinery in working order.
It does not have the pendulum.
Measures: 98 x 49 x 33 cm.
It is a work that fits perfectly within the framework of modernism, known in Central Europe as Jugendstil, specifically in its organic aspect, which is directly inspired by nature, leaving aside idealisation and playing at deceiving the eye with the realistic and detailed representation of plant or animal elements. Thus, the clock itself is enveloped in a sculptural group featuring two figures focused on climbing to the top of the group. The anatomy of the two figures, as well as the draperies covering their pudent parts, denote the naturalistic character of the composition.
