Measurements: 68 x 48 x 18 cm.
It features an allegorical figure of a woman in a classical Greco-Roman-style toga reclining on the clock’s base. She is traditionally identified as the allegory of the “Liseuse” (The Reader) or the muse Polyhymnia / Sappho, who is depicted intently reading an open book on a pedestal. The clock face is neatly integrated into the central marble section, featuring classic Roman numerals.
