Launched in 1996 to mark the Atlanta Olympic Games, Olympic Legends is part of the special collection developed by Swatch for the so-called Centennial Olympic Games. The presentation itself identifies Swatch as the “Official Timekeeper and Sponsor of the 1996 Olympic Games,” a connection that directly places the set in the context for which it was conceived.
The edition brings together ten models, each dedicated to outstanding Olympic champions from different generations and disciplines, including Nadia Comaneci, Sebastian Coe, Mark Spitz, Edwin Moses, and Bob Beamon. Each piece features a specific design related to the honored athlete, and all are housed in a fold-out case designed specifically for the collection. The set was produced in a numbered edition of 20,000 pieces.
