DESCRIPTION
Empire period frame; ca. 1820.
Wood and gilded stucco.
Wear due to use and the passage of time. Old xylophages.
Measurements: 84 x 65 cm (light); 98 x 78,5 cm (frame).
Empire period frame made of wood with golden stucco applications. It follows a style inspired by the classicism of the 19th century, basing its decoration mainly on moldings and vegetal elements. It has a rigorously geometric frame, whose lines are enhanced at the top and bottom by staggered moldings on which different applications of gilded stucco with classically inspired vegetal ornamentation are placed in the corners. The frame follows a clearly architectural structure, with refined, clean and markedly geometric lines, typical of the Empire aesthetic.
