In 2015, the Howard Griffin Gallery in London held a solo show by the artist Thierry Noir, entitled 'Jazz'. This piece has a strong emphasis on line and aims to simplify forms to their most basic elements. This simplicity reflected the need to paint quickly outdoors in a dangerous environment. Noir reacted to his surroundings and his monsters are a metaphor for the wall itself, each relating to his experiences or feelings of what he calls a 'killing machine'. His huge, brightly coloured murals represented both a personal response to the oppressive environment in which he found himself and a poignant political monument that is as relevant in the 21st century as it was at the height of the Cold War.
Thierry Noir is a French artist and muralist based in Berlin. He is considered the first artist to paint the Berlin Wall in the 1980s. He is known for his brightly coloured paintings on large sections of the Berlin Wall and some of these original paintings can still be seen in surviving segments of the Wall in art collections and in the East Side Gallery. Noir's work and style are now considered iconic, and Noir is also regarded as one of the forerunners of the street art movement as a whole. He continues to create murals around the world in cities such as London, Los Angeles and Sydney. On the voice in the film Wings of Desire, in the artist's portrayal of a figurine of a beggar. His debut, according to the artist, is the journey of four soldiers with machine guns. Even the inhabitants of Kreuzberg are opposed to the recovery of the savage painting, which forced Noir to recommend it. These wall paintings became more and more extensive over the years and found increasing resonance in the art scene. In 1991, he was a guest artist at the East Side Gallery. Although the East Side Gallery is a protected monument, the restorer has worked there (1993, 1996 and 1998). In 2005, the artist Noir created a "Buddy Bear" named Teddy Noir for the benefit of the Berlin Children's Aid Organisation. Since 2004, he has been working on projects with the German painter Christina Allzeit.
