Bodegas Domecq in Rioja is known for its wine brand Marqués de Arienzo, a relatively young company, founded in 1973 and considered one of the most important of the new generation of the 70s. After its experience as owner of Bodegas Palacio in the 1970s, Marqués de Arienzo was able to play a good role in replacing one of the oldest brands in the area and in the house, Privilegio del Rey Sancho, whose main feature was its exclusive bottle of its own design, something frankly unusual in La Rioja. Today, it owns 350 hectares of vineyards and has a capacity for some 4.5 million litres of wine, as well as a spectacular cask park with more than 21,000 barrels. Marqués de Arienzo is an absolutely typical crianza red wine, with a luminous ruby colour, well-balanced aromas of red fruit and smoky wood, and a flavoursome and comfortable palate.
