The history of Catena Zapata begins in 1902, when Nicola Catena Catena emigrated from Italy to Argentina. Since then, his descendants have not only preserved the family winemaking tradition, but have transformed the winery into a wine icon both nationally and internationally.
Currently, Nicolás Catena and his daughter Laura, representing the fourth generation, manage around 400 parcels distributed throughout the country. Trusting in the potential of the Argentine terroir -despite its apparent poverty-, they have bet on lands with extraordinary characteristics for vine growing.
This is reflected in their high quality wines, whose elaboration responds to their own philosophy: to combine grapes from different vineyards. Although the same variety and even identical clones are used, the blending of fruit from areas with different microclimates brings a remarkable complexity to the wines. Catena Zapata products are unique expressions of diverse terroirs, with very varied aromatic and taste profiles.
