Classified Premier Cru Supérieur in the Official Bordeaux Wine Classification of 1855, Château d'Yquem produces wines characterized by their complexity, concentration and sweetness, the latter trait balanced through relatively high acidity. They are also wines renowned for their longevity; in a good year, a bottle will only begin to show its qualities after a decade or two in the cellar and, with proper care, will keep for a century or more gradually adding layers of flavor and undetected fruit tones. The vineyard occupies one hundred and thirteen hectares, although only about one hundred are in production at a time. The vines include 80% semillon and 20% sauvignon blanc, although the productivity of the latter accounts for more equal proportions in the final wine. On average only 65,000 bottles are produced annually, given the rigorous grape selection process.
The images of each lot are the real ones of the object and, therefore, are part of the cataloguing. Thus, the buyer accepts that the condition of the wines is shown in the images and/or in the cataloguing, and that the content and fragility of the cork and the seal are not the responsibility of Setdart Subastas.
