Pep Duran has worked in parallel with set design from the very beginning of his career. This has allowed him, over the years, to develop projects and proposals centered on a particular way of understanding construction and representation, focused on resolving the staging. His works are held in numerous private and public collections, such as the Reina Sofía National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNACRS), the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), Artium in Vitoria, and Fons d’Art of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the La Caixa Foundation Contemporary Art Collection, and the Banc de Sabadell Collection, among others. He has exhibited, both in group and solo shows, in Spanish and European cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, San Sebastián, Lisbon, London, Amsterdam, Cologne, Turin, and Copenhagen, among others. He is represented by the RocioSantaCruz gallery (Barcelona). He has created numerous theater set designs, participating in productions for the Teatre Lliure, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, and the Teatro de La Zarzuela in Madrid. As an artistic director, he has collaborated on various films, winning the Generalitat de Catalunya Film Award for Best Technical Achievement for the costumes in Jaime Camino’s 1989 film *Luces y Sombras*. His project *Sin Escenario*, organized by SEACEX and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, toured in 2009–2010 through the MARTE Museum of Contemporary Art in El Salvador, the MADC in Costa Rica, the MAC in Panama, and the Spanish Cultural Center in Mexico. One of his most recent major exhibition projects was “Una cadena de acontecimientos” (A Chain of Events), curated by Chus Martínez at the MACBA Capella; it featured an installation of ceramic pieces with inlaid and glazed reliefs, works produced in collaboration with the MACBA. This piece is on display at the Central Library of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
