Pio Augusto Verdú was a painter and drawing instructor associated with the Málaga art scene. He began his training in Totana with José Miralles and continued it in Antequera with José María Fernández and in Granada with Gabriel Morcillo. In 1942, he moved to the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid, where he studied under Ramón Stolz Viciano, Daniel Vázquez Díaz, and Joaquín Valverde. He combined painting with teaching at the Vélez-Málaga High School, and in 1980 he was admitted to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Telmo. He focused particularly on religious themes and floral compositions, featuring motifs such as jasmine, lilies, and wallflowers. Among his works is the tempera mural “Pentecost” (1952), housed at the Isabel la Católica Residential Hall of the University of Granada.
