Benjamín Armas was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1985 and emigrated to New York in 1996. Coming from a family with ties to the world of culture and the arts, he is the grandson of the Venezuelan writer and literary critic Alfredo Armas Alfonzo, renowned for his contribution to Venezuelan literature and considered a key figure in short fiction and the modern fable. Armas studied architecture at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, an education that has influenced his spatial and constructive approach to artistic creation. His practice encompasses sculpture, photography, installation, and architectural projects. In 2007, he began an artistic collaboration with Ori Carino, with whom he has developed joint projects in sculpture, painting, and installation, presented under the name Armas Carino. His work has been exhibited at LatchKey Gallery in New York.
