In “On the Waters,” Christian Pignol combines his mastery of realistic painting with a poetic and evocative sensibility. The composition depicts a child seen from behind, standing motionless on the waters of a lake, set against a landscape of mountains and forests stretching toward the horizon. The red balloon, suspended above the figure, introduces a touch of color and a symbolic element that suggests the innocence and fragility of childhood. The serenity of the setting, the delicate reflections on the water, and the palette of blues and greens create an almost dreamlike atmosphere, where everyday reality takes on an introspective dimension.

Christian Pignol, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1997, has developed a career centered on realist painting, with a special focus on urban landscapes, portraiture, and contemporary figurative art. He has exhibited at galleries such as Santiago Echeberría, Castelló 120, Margarita Summers, and Astarté. He has also participated in exhibitions and selections of figurative art associated with the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (MEAM) in Barcelona and was a finalist in the ModPortrait 2025 competition.
