Salvador Tomnyuy, born Eric Tomnyuy in Jakari, Cameroon, is a self-taught artist whose work is deeply rooted in the experiences of migration, identity, freedom, and personal transformation. After working as a boxer and a hairdresser, he discovered painting in 2017 during his stay in Tangier, and it has since become his primary medium of expression.
His artistic language is characterized by figures of great expressive intensity, bodies in tension, and faces with oversized eyes, created through a vibrant combination of acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, collage, and various other materials. His characters appear to be in a constant state of struggle and movement, reflecting both vulnerability and resilience.
With exhibitions in various countries across Europe and Africa and participation in ARCO Madrid, Tomnyuy has established himself as a unique voice within contemporary African art, where gestural force and color become tools for addressing universal experiences.
