Introspection XII is part of the abstract explorations Trujillo has been developing in his recent work, which focus on the expression of emotions and personal experiences through color and texture. The composition is built through the layering of chromatic planes, transparencies, and gestural brushstrokes, in a vibrant combination of reds, yellows, blues, and greens. The dark lines that traverse the surface introduce a dynamic rhythm, while variations in texture and drag effects create a remarkable visual depth. The title refers to the process of inner exploration that characterizes this series, in which the artist transforms his experiences and emotional states into a visual language akin to abstract expressionism.

Mario Jesús Pardillo Trujillo is a Cuban-born artist based in Pontevedra. He studied at the University of the Arts in Havana, where he earned a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Movable Cultural Heritage, and continued his studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela. His artistic trajectory has evolved from figurative representation and urban landscapes toward a highly expressive form of abstraction. He has presented his work in solo exhibitions in Havana and Pontevedra, and has participated in group shows such as the 9th and 10th Abstract Art Salon, organized by the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors in Madrid in 2024 and 2025.
