Attributed to GABRIELLA CRESPI (Saronno, Italy, 1922 – Milan, Italy, 2017).
Set of five baskets, Italy, ca. 1970.
Rattan and brass.
Shows slight signs of wear consistent with its age.

Set of five decorative baskets in various shapes and sizes, crafted from rattan and embellished with brass details. The combination of the warmth of natural fibers with the golden reflections of the metal gives the pieces an appealing balance between naturalness, refinement, and sophistication, in harmony with the aesthetic sensibility of 1970s Italian design.
The set evokes the material language and artisanal spirit associated with the work of Gabriella Crespi, whose work was distinguished by the fusion of hallmarks such as contrasting materials, attention to detail, and a sculptural conception of everyday objects. Gabriella Crespi was a prominent 20th-century Italian architect and designer. Trained at the Politecnico di Milano, she developed a body of work beginning in the 1950s that straddled the fields of design, sculpture, and the decorative arts. In the 1960s, she collaborated with Maison Dior, and during the 1970s, she achieved international recognition for her furniture, objects, and lighting fixtures with a distinctly sculptural character.
