DESCRIPTION
HANS-AGNE JAKOBSSON (Sweden, 1919–2009).
Set of three ceiling lamps. Markaryd, Sweden, second half of the 20th century.
White-lacquered metal.
No warranty is provided for the electrical components.
Measurements: 29 cm high; 60 cm in diameter (each).
Set of three ceiling lights consisting of a wide reflective disc and a cylindrical lower body, connected by thin rods. The white finish unifies the structure and enhances the play of light on its surfaces, while the arrangement of the elements partially conceals the light bulbs. As we can see, Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s work is characterized by the pursuit of soft, comfortable lighting, achieved through shades and reflectors that conceal the light bulbs and control glare. The Swedish designer experimented with metal, glass, fabrics, and thin sheets of wood, combining formal simplicity with an attention to the atmosphere created by light. This union of function and well-being constitutes one of the most recognizable contributions of his work to Scandinavian design.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish interior and furniture designer, best known for his lamps. He studied architecture in Gothenburg, worked as an industrial designer for General Motors, and served as an assistant to Carl Malmsten. In 1951, he founded his own company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, Sweden.
