BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Table lamp attributed to VENINI. Italy, ca. 1970.
White and clear Murano glass.
In excellent overall condition, with no visible cracks or chips.
Measurements: 34 cm high × 25 cm in diameter.

Table lamp with a sinuous silhouette, featuring a domed upper body, a narrow waist, and a truncated cone-shaped base. The glass features fine parallel white bands, alternating with transparent stripes, that run the length of the piece and accentuate its curves. This treatment, reminiscent of Venetian filigree, integrates the decoration into the material itself and makes the glass form the focal point of the lighting.

Venini is an Italian artistic glass manufacturer founded in Murano in 1921 by Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin. It is one of the leading names in 20th-century glass for combining traditional Venetian techniques with experimentation in forms, colors, and transparencies. It has produced lamps, vases, and decorative objects in collaboration with designers such as Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti, Fulvio Bianconi, and Tapio Wirkkala. Its significance lies in having brought the craftsmanship of master glassmakers into the realm of modern design.
