This set belongs to the Sprinters series, created by Julian Opie in 2024, in which the artist revisits one of the central themes of his career: the representation of the human body in motion. The figures of runners, reduced to vividly colored silhouettes with synthetic outlines against black backgrounds, reflect his characteristic visual language, which draws on graphic design, signage, and digital aesthetics. The lenticular technique creates an illusion of depth and movement that is activated by changing the viewing angle, accentuating the dynamism and rhythm of the race. The six compositions constitute an expressive demonstration of Opie’s ability to transform everyday gestures into images of great visual immediacy.

Julian Opie studied at Goldsmiths College in London and has established himself as one of the leading figures in contemporary British art. His body of work spans painting, sculpture, printmaking, animation, and digital installations, combining references to Pop Art and Minimalism. He has participated in major international exhibitions, and his work is included in collections such as those of the Tate Gallery, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and MoMA in New York.
