Trained at the Escuela de La Lonja, Ortuño held his first solo exhibition in 1971, and the following year he won the Young Artist Painting Prize at the Sala Parés. Since then, he has exhibited his work in solo shows in Spain, Italy, Russia, Japan, and the United States, at prominent venues such as the Pushkin Museum in St. Petersburg (2003), the Toho Art Corporation in Tokyo (1991), the Biosca Gallery in Madrid (1988), and the Spanish Cultural Institute in Naples (1978), among many others. He has also participated in group exhibitions and art fairs in Spain, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Argentina, Brazil, Santo Domingo, Belgium, Monaco, and Switzerland. Ortuño’s work is characterized by its intense use of color, which is rooted in the Fauvist movement.
