DESCRIPTION
Carpet. Anatolia, late 19th century.
Hand knotted wool.
Measurements: 540 x 330 cm.
Carpet of careful execution, characterized by a central field in intense red maroon organized from an axial scheme of symbolic inspiration, close to the motif of the tree of life, developed through a rich succession of geometric elements, stylized floral and zoomorphic motifs. The field is structured symmetrically, with secondary medallions, schematic architectural figures and small repeated motifs that generate a continuous and balanced visual rhythm. This type of composition, with a strong symbolic charge, is characteristic of certain productions from Anatolia and the Caucasian area, where the decorative tradition combines geometry, narration and ancestral symbolism. The whole is framed by a wide border in green and ochre tones, decorated with floral and geometric motifs of firm outline, which contrast effectively with the red background of the field. The color palette, lively but harmonious, reflects the use of traditional dyes and gives a notable decorative presence to the piece. The wool, of good quality and consistent feel, shows a regular knotting that evidences a solid manufacture, designed for both everyday use and for the ornamentation of representative spaces. Due to its design, dimensions and general condition, this rug is particularly suitable for integration in classic or eclectic interiors, highly appreciated in the market for its visual strength and handcrafted authenticity.
