DESCRIPTION
Important large format Spanish rug, ca. 1930-1940.
Quality hand knotted wool.
In very good condition.
Measurements: 400 x 500 cm.
Important Spanish large format rug, in hand knotted wool, representative of the national manufacture of the second quarter of the 20th century. Its design is inspired by the classicist tradition of the great palace carpets, with echoes of the repertoires of the Royal Tapestry Factory and the French productions of Savonnerie and Aubusson.
The piece is articulated around a blue field of great presence, centered by an oval medallion framed by floral garlands in pastel tones. The corners incorporate acanthus scrolls in ochers and pinks, adding movement and architectural elegance to the ensemble. The wide perimeter border, compartmentalized in cartouches, alternates rosettes, plant motifs and ornamental festoons, creating a balanced and stately visual rhythm.
The chromatic combination - blues, grays, ochers, creams and pinks - gives the carpet a remarkable decorative versatility. Due to its exceptional dimensions, the piece allows to visually structure a large living room or representative space, providing warmth, textile richness and a distinguished presence.
Its technical quality, palace-inspired composition and large format make it a particularly attractive piece for high-end interior design projects, capable of dialoguing with both classic environments and sophisticated contemporary interiors.
