DESCRIPTION
God Osiris. Ancient Egypt, Lower Epoch, 664 - 323 BC.
Bronze.
In good state of preservation.
Measurements: 14,5 cm height.
Egyptian bronze figure representing the god Osiris, one of the main divinities of the Egyptian pantheon. He appears in his traditional iconography, with mummiform body, arms crossed on the chest and high headdress, features that identify him as god of the resurrection, of the Beyond and of the regeneration.
During the Late Epoch, the small bronze votive sculptures reached a great diffusion in Egyptian religious contexts. These images were offered in sanctuaries or used as objects of devotion, acting as symbolic intermediaries between the faithful and the divinity.
The piece retains an attractive dark patina with greenish hues, characteristic of ancient bronzes. Its frontality, the clarity of its attributes and its good visual impact make it an interesting testimony of late Egyptian religiosity and votive bronze production.
