Hellenistic terracotta mask, datable to the 3rd century BC, related to the Greek theatrical repertoire. The piece presents a grotesque and markedly scenic expression, with arched eyebrows, bulging eyes, prominent nose and open mouth, features designed to intensify the gestures of the character.

During Hellenism, theatrical masks became a frequent motif in terracotta production, both for their relationship with the theater and for their decorative and symbolic value. Their expressiveness responded to the taste of the time for caricatured types, facial exaggeration and the representation of intense emotions.

Despite its small format, the work retains a remarkable visual strength. The energetic modeling of the features and the good general state of preservation make it an attractive example of Hellenistic choroplasty linked to the scenic world.
