BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Japanese cup of the nineteenth century. Glazed porcelain. Measurements: 7 x 8 cm Japanese porcelain cup with landscape decoration on black background, and poem written in kanji, with seals. Interior decoration in blue. It presents an ancient typically Japanese restoration, called Kintsugi or Kintsukuroi, which uses resin varnish sprinkled with mixed with gold, silver or platinum powder. It reflects a philosophy that values breakages and repairs as part of the history of an object, and therefore worthy of being shown, incorporated and also embellishing the piece, highlighting the passage of time.
