DESCRIPTION
Pair of tables: China, Jiangsu province, Qing dynasty, 1830-1850.
Lacquered walnut wood.
Measurements: 84 x 110 x 52 cm (x2).
Pair of Qing dynasty Chinese decorative console tables, also known as demilune (crescent) tables. An example of 19th century Chinese furniture from the prestigious Jiangsu region. Their versatile design allows them to be used as freestanding consoles or combined to form a central circular table, a functional and decorative solution much appreciated in traditional Chinese interiors.
Made of walnut wood and finished in black lacquer, the tables retain an authentic patina that shows the passage of time and enhances their historic character. The balanced proportions and sober lines reflect the Qing aesthetic, where elegance is achieved through simplicity and quality materials.
