Ayusi (or Ayuxi) is a notable historical figure of the 18th century, celebrated for his military service under the reign of Emperor Qianlong. He earned a place in imperial records for his exceptional bravery and skill as an officer. He is especially remembered for his participation in the campaign against the Zunghars, specifically the Battle of Gadan-Ola (1755).
In Qing court art, it was customary to paint portraits of outstanding military heroes to honor their loyalty and merit. This painting follows that tradition, presenting him not as a static bust, but as a warrior in action, highlighting his fighting ability.
