Vintage "Kelly" bag in brown crocodile. France, ca. 1955-1965.

Hermès handbag model Kelly of 32 cm. made of brown crocodile leather, with top handle and golden metal hardware. Closure engraved with the inscription "HERMÈS-PARIS". Brown smooth leather interior with patch pocket and zipper.
Turn-lock closure with engraved rectangular plates with matching crocodile side straps ("sangles"). HERMÈS PARIS" stamped in gold inside.
This sample is from a production of the 1950-60's, a period in which Hermès did not yet systematically include the date and workshop stamps on the back of the sangle, which is why there is no visible marking in that area, a common feature in vintage samples of this period.

Condition: good general condition, with patina of use, slight signs of wear in the corners, interior with craquelure typical of the passage of time; fittings with slight loss of gilding. It preserves structural solidity.

The "Kelly" bag, named after Grace Kelly in 1956, is one of the iconic pieces of the maison Hermès. The vintage crocodile copies, such as the present one, are today highly valued objects by international collectors, both for the rarity of the material and for its craftsmanship.
