The Pierres d'Orient et d'Occident line by Hermès, first published in 1988, is inspired by the Renaissance technique of marquetry in hard stones (pietra dura), combining Eastern and Western decorative influences. The design reflects the maison's taste for historicist references and cultural fusion.
