Series of four fine tapestries of the Manufacture d'Aubusson, made in France during the 19th century, during the Napoleon III period. The pieces present a rich floral decoration organized from baskets overflowing of flowers, suspended garlands, ornamental friezes and motives of pompoms, on clear bottoms framed by borders of intense chromatism.
The ensemble stands out for its decorative character and the delicacy of its composition, heir to the great French tradition of ornamental tapestry. The combination of ivory, pink, maroon, ochre and blue tones provides great visual richness, while the vertical arrangement of the motifs allows them to be integrated as wall panels with a strong scenographic presence.
The Aubusson Manufacture was one of the most prestigious centers of textile production in France, rivaling manufactures such as Gobelins. Its workshops specialized in decorative series for aristocratic interiors, adapting pictorial models to the textile language with great skill. In this series, this mastery can be appreciated in the chromatic gradation, the representation of light and the meticulousness of the floral details.
