This Roman urn, of globular design, is notable for having been made from a fine gray clay fired at a very high temperature, resulting in a remarkably thin-walled vessel of great hardness. The urn stands on a base that is considerably small in proportion and has a wide, globular upper body. It has a single side handle and is topped by a tight-fitting lid adorned with small notches, circular grooves and a knob handle in the center.
