This carving comes from the collection started more than eighty years ago by a German businessman living in Barcelona, as a result of his interest in archaeological objects used as personal adornment by men and women. He collected more than one hundred and fifty rings, carvings and cameos, and years later his grandson, following in his footsteps, expanded and improved the collection, multiplying the number of pieces by twenty. In these more than two thousand rings, carvings and cameos we can find represented all the cultures that flourished around the Mediterranean; from the VI millennium B.C. in the Middle East, through the Middle East, to the Middle East and the Middle Ages. in the Middle East, passing through Ancient Egypt, Greece, Phoenicia and Carthage, wonderful examples of the wide range of cultures of pre-Roman Europe, and also including pieces from the most splendid period of the Roman Empire, samples from Byzantine and medieval Europe, a selection from the Islamic world and, finally, a small group of pieces dated between the Renaissance and the 19th century.
