DESCRIPTION

Earrings. Roman Empire. III Century A.D.
Gold.
Provenance: Private collection of Mr. and Mrs. S., Ghent, Belgium. Acquired at the Drees Archeo Gallery in December 2010.
Conservation: Good state of preservation.
8.76 gr.
Measurements: 4 cm high each one.

Pair of Roman earrings in gold, made with delicate goldsmith work, composed of a decorated central body and mobile hanging elements that give dynamism to the piece.

This type of jewelry was characteristic of personal adornment in Roman imperial times, where the use of gold and the incorporation of hanging elements reflected status and refinement. The combination of technique and design is evidence of the skill of the Roman workshops in the production of luxury objects for the elite.

A specimen of great interest for collectors, both for its good state of preservation and for its representativeness within ancient Roman jewelry.
