Pre-Columbian textile belonging to the Nazca culture, made of camelid fiber using a delicate gauze technique. The piece presents a rich composition of vertical bands in red, ochre, earth, green and black tones, with geometric motifs organized in registers of great visual rhythm.
The central field is articulated by rhomboidal designs and staggered shapes, characteristic of Andean symbolic language, while the lateral bands introduce repetitive motifs that reinforce the ornamental structure of the whole. The intensity of the red color, combined with the complexity of the weaving, gives the work a remarkable visual presence and a strong ritual and decorative charge.
Textiles occupied an essential place in the pre-Columbian cultures of the Andean area, both for their utilitarian value and for their ceremonial, social and symbolic importance. In the Nazca world, the technical mastery of weaving and chromatic richness reached an extraordinary development, turning these pieces into privileged testimonies of one of the most refined textile traditions of the American Antiquity.
