DESCRIPTION

Jug. Greece, 3rd century B.C.
Ceramic.
The surface shows signs of wear and small areas of loss typical of its archaeological age.
Measurements: 11 cm high.

Small Greek black-glazed ceramic jug from the Hellenistic period. It features a globular body, short neck, flared rim, ring foot, and side handle, following a functional design intended for serving or pouring liquids.

The piece stands out for the simplicity of its form and the contrast between the black glaze and the areas of wear, where the light tone of the clay is revealed. This type of pottery, a descendant of the Attic black-glaze tradition, remained widely distributed throughout the Greek and Mediterranean world during the Hellenistic period.
