DESCRIPTION
God Osiris. Ancient Egypt, Late Period, c. 664–332 B.C.
Bronze.
It retains a dark green patina characteristic of ancient bronze, with surface deposits consistent with its archaeological age.
Measurements: 10 cm in height.
Small Egyptian bronze figure representing the god Osiris, one of the fundamental deities of the Egyptian pantheon, associated with death, resurrection, and eternal life. The deity is depicted in a mummy-like pose, with arms crossed over the chest and a characteristic headdress, following the traditional iconography of the god as ruler of the Afterlife.
During the Late Period, bronze figures of deities became widely popular as votive objects, placed in temples and shrines by the faithful seeking protection, divine favor, or symbolic participation in worship. In this context, Osiris occupied a central place due to his association with regeneration and the hope of rebirth after death.
Despite its small size, it maintains a strong ritual presence, reinforced by its frontal orientation, the sacred rigidity of the posture, and the immediate identification with the Osirian god.
