DESCRIPTION
Dish; Japan, Meiji period, first half of the nineteenth century.
Bronze and cloisonné enamel.
Measurements: 6,5 x 51 cm.
Dish made in Japan during the Meiji period, in the first half of the nineteenth century, is made of bronze with cloisonné enamel technique. Its surface has a deep blue background on which develops an exuberant composition of flowers, birds and a white crane, symbol of longevity and good fortune. The brightly colored enamels, delimited by fine metallic threads, reveal a remarkable technical precision and a refined aesthetic sense characteristic of Japanese decorative art of this period, in which naturalistic elegance and the masterful craftsmanship of cloisonné merge.
