DESCRIPTION
Chinese bowl or plate. Qing Dynasty, 19th century.
Glazed porcelain.
Signature on the base
Measurements: 21 cm diameter.
Blue and white porcelain dish (Qinghua) of refined execution, which stands out for its complex Buddhist iconography and its imperial period mark. The eight symbols of Tibetan Buddhism, intertwined with floating ribbons and vegetal scrolls, are displayed on the flange of the plate. Elements such as the infinity knot, golden fish, treasure vase and dharma wheel can be clearly identified.
The mark on the base indicates that it was made during the Qing Dynasty, under the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795). However, given the sharpness of the mark and the state of preservation, it is usual that these pieces are excellent productions of the late nineteenth century (Guangxu period) or early twentieth century, faithfully following the imperial models of the eighteenth century.
