DESCRIPTION

Measurements: 16 x 18 x 11 cm; 12 x 14 x 10 x 10 cm.
The oblate teapot has floral motifs. The body has a lobed shape (with vertical ribs) reminiscent of a fruit or a flower. It features chrysanthemum motifs, which in Chinese culture symbolize longevity and endurance, as they bloom in autumn. The stroke is fluid, typical of the "blue and white" style for export or domestic use.
The hexagonal teapot is decorated with blue symbols that dominate the panels are stylized variations of the character (Shòu), meaning Longevity. It is a popular design for birthday gifts or to wish for a long and prosperous life. It is a hexagonal teapot, a more complex shape to make that requires joining clay plates together rather than using the traditional potter's wheel. The handle and spout are decorated with geometric patterns that complement the formal rigidity of the piece.
