DESCRIPTION
Pitcher with handle for wine service. BOHEMIA, mid-twentieth century.
Wheel cut glass, and acid etched amber decoration.
Silver metal lid.
Measurements: 28 x 15 x 13 cm.
This Bohemian crystal decanter represents the continuity of the outstanding Central European glassmaking tradition, known for its technical mastery and penchant for elaborate geometric decorations.
It is made in wheel-cut glass, a classic technique of Bohemian workshops, which allows for deep, clean and faceted cuts. In this case, the body presents a rhomboidal pattern executed with great regularity, in which an acid-etched amber decoration is integrated, a resource that combines the brightness of transparent glass with satin or colored areas to generate subtle but very effective visual hallmarks. This duality between carving and engraving gives the piece a refined optical effect and a sense of enriched volume.
The carafe is completed with a silver-plated metal lid, designed to protect the contents and facilitate serving. The applied handle, in faceted and twisted glass, responds to both a functional and ornamental aesthetic, typical of high quality Bohemian glassware.
