The artist Katsuhiro Hibino completed his postgraduate studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts, where he is now a professor, initially attracting critical attention from his student days for his innovative works created with cardboard. Since then, his prolific career has expanded rapidly, encompassing diverse fields such as theater production and public art, and consolidating his international presence with participations in events such as the Biennale of Sydney (1986) and the Venice Biennale (1995). In addition to his achievements in exhibitions, Hibino has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Grand Prize of the Japan Graphic Exhibition (1982) and the Mainichi Design Prize (1999); and in recent years, he has focused his work on conducting participatory workshops throughout Japan, seeking to highlight the identity and uniqueness of each community.
