The aesthetics of this work frames it in the sensibility of the German Symbolism. The composition is frontal and balanced: Christ occupies the center, erect, wrapped in a clear tunic that contrasts with the darker clothes of the two disciples that flank him. This chromatic contrast not only hierarchizes the scene, but also suggests the spiritual irradiation of the central figure. The gesture of the right hand, raised in an attitude of blessing or teaching, refers to his role as a teacher. There is no narrative drama; rather, the scene seems to capture an instant of silent transmission of knowledge or faith. The disciples, in recollected attitudes, express listening and reflection. This diversity of postures suggests different ways of receiving the spiritual message.
Technically, the work combines drawing and color in a delicate way, with soft contours and a muted palette that accentuates the sensation of recollection. The visible wear of the support even adds a patina of antiquity that dialogues with the spiritual theme.
