Unlike the classic representations, where the scene usually unfolds with narrative clarity and richness of attributes, here everything is reduced to the essential. The main figure, wrapped in a mantle, appears leaning over an open book. Her posture suggests recollection, study or meditation, rather than surprise or drama. This detail shifts the emphasis from the external event to the inner experience.
Above her, a barely sketched winged figure, the heralding angel, bursts into the composition with an ascending gesture, holding what looks like a ring or crown. There are no precise details: the body is constructed with rapid and fragmentary lines, as if it were a fleeting apparition. This treatment reinforces the symbolist idea of the invisible that barely allows itself to be perceived.
