DESCRIPTION
Lot of 4 intaglio prints of anatomical models. Germany, late 19th century.
From Roth, anatomischer Atlas.
Published by Verlag von Ebner & Seubert, Stuttgart.
Measurements: 43 x 33,5 cm (each).
Set of four anatomical plates belonging to a German scientific atlas, in which the bony and muscular structure of the human body are represented in parallel in the same dynamic posture. The quality of the line and the precision in the modeling of volumes are evidence of a very rigorous intaglio work, halfway between scientific illustration and the artistic tradition of the study of the human body.
Published in Stuttgart by Ebner & Seubert, they are part of the "Roth, anatomischer Atlas", a didactic repertoire disseminated in the Germanic area in the second half of the 19th century. This type of atlas played a fundamental role in the training of doctors, artists and scientists, consolidating a precise and systematic visual language.
