DESCRIPTION
PASCAL MOURGUE (France, 1943) for SCARABAT, Spain.
Bookcase "Kang".
In very good condition.
Measurements: 172 x 86 x 27 cm.
Bookcase designed by Pascal Mourgue in the eighties and produced by Scarabat. It is distinguished by its postmodern style reminiscent of some of the Memphis designs, but with more sober materials and lines. This French creator is remembered for his futuristic and innovative designs.
Pascal Mourgue studied sculpture at the Boulle School, and later graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He began designing furniture in 1962, always placing artistic integrity above commercial success. This love of art has led him to work in fields as diverse as sailboat design for Cartier, ornamental glass objects for Baccarat, architecture, painting and sculpture. It was not until the 1980s that he finally focused his career on home furnishings.
