This metal sculpture, with its design evoking artificial satellites, is a clear example of the Space Age style. Characterized by a central sphere from which multiple arms extend, the piece reflects the optimism and fascination with the space race, which began with the launch of Sputnik in 1957. During the 1960s and 1970s, this "fever" for space influenced design, giving rise to a decorative style that idealized the future through ship-inspired forms, new technologies and innovative materials.

The work comes from the goldsmith company Curtis Jeré, famous for its wall sculptures and home accessories. Curtis Jeré is the pseudonym created in 1963 by its founders, Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, with the aim of producing "gallery-quality art for the masses," which was active in the United States in the 1960s-70s.
