DESCRIPTION

Pair of wall lamps LYFA. Denmark, 1930s.
Brass lampshades later painted green.
Aged brass structure.
Rare pieces.
Slight wear.
Measurements: 35 cm (height); 35 cm (diameter).

Rare set of wall lamps from the 1930s. It constitutes a testimony of early Danish design and of the aesthetic and technical experimentation that characterized the Lyfa firm.

The shades are composed of two bodies nested one in a larger one, following the principle of diffuse reflection developed by Poul Henningsen and adopted by several Danish manufacturers of the time. This double arrangement allows optimal control of light, generating a soft and glare-free illumination, ideal for reading spaces or intimate environments.

The green lacquered brass finish gives these wall lights a sophisticated and singular presence, with a chromatic nuance that contrasts elegantly with the reflections of the aged metal.

For their refined design, their careful proportion and the nobility of the materials, these Lyfa lamps are an outstanding example of early Scandinavian functionalism, to some extent influenced by Art Deco.

Given their rarity, specimens such as these have become collector's items, valued both for their material beauty and for their historical importance in the development of Scandinavian lighting design.
