Interesting Safari stool designed by the Dutch architect, designer and cabinetmaker Ate van Apeldoorn, an important figure of Dutch design in the mid-twentieth century. The piece responds to a functional and honest conception of furniture, in which the materials are expressed directly, without artifice, and the structure is clearly visible.

The stool is made of solid wood, with simple but solid assemblies, and is completed with a sling seat made of natural leather stretched between the structure. The leather has a deep and homogeneous patina, with slight marks and tonal variations that add character and authenticity to the piece. The wood, likewise, shows an attractive aging, while retaining its structural integrity.

Ate van Apeldoorn's work is characterized by a combination of traditional craftsmanship and formal modernity, influenced by her training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem and a clear sensitivity to natural materials. This stool is a good example of his design language: austere, functional and timeless, with references to country furniture and the practical spirit of the Safari style.
