Jon Santacoloma is one of the references of contemporary Basque industrial design. Graduated in Business Studies from the University of Deusto in 1996, with a specialization in Marketing and Commercialization, Santacoloma furthered his training in industrial design by studying at the DZ Design Center and later at De Montfort University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Product and Furniture Design in 2000.
That same year he founded Ideilan Design, his own studio based in Leioa (Bizkaia), from which he has undertaken a wide variety of projects for leading companies and institutions in both the private and public sectors, including B-Lux, Metro Bilbao, University of Deusto, Basque Government, Magefesa, Solac, Laster and Sidenor.
Santacoloma achieved international recognition with the Kanpazar luminaire (2005), designed for B.Lux and considered an icon of outdoor lighting design, awarded in multiple national and international competitions.
In addition to his professional work, Santacoloma has participated as a teacher and jury member in academic and design circles, contributing to the dissemination and consolidation of industrial design as a key discipline for innovation and competitiveness.
